Tickets can be purchased online from approximately one month in advance up until the day of your visit.
Only tickets on the day of your visit can be purchased at the museum.
Please note that discounts for persons with disabilities only apply to tickets purchased on the day of your visit. Discounts do not apply to online purchases, and refunds will not be given at the museum for the price difference.
Are tickets available for sale on the day of my visit?
Tickets can be purchased at the museum entrance from 11:00. Please note that optional tickets for Kyomai dance performances by a geiko or maiko and photo sessions with a geiko or maiko may sell out.
Can I change the date and/or time of my ticket, or cancel my ticket after purchase?
Changes and cancellations cannot be made after purchase.
Where can I find the ticket that I purchased online?
Once you have purchased your ticket, please check the email sent to your registered email address. The PDF file attached to this email contains a QR code that you will be asked to present upon entry.

Can I divide tickets purchased online among the other people in my party and enter separately?
Tickets cannot be divided.
Entry
Can I re-enter the museum?
If you only have an admission ticket, you will not be able to re-enter the museum. If you have an optional ticket for Kyomai dances performances by a geiko or maiko or photo sessions with a geiko or maiko, you will be able to re-enter the museum.
Will I have to wait to enter the museum?
Depending on the number of visitors, we may ask you to wait 5-10 minutes to purchase your ticket.
I purchased a ticket for a Kyomai dance performance by a geiko or maiko. How early can I enter before the performance begins?
You can enter the museum at any time. Before the Kyomai dance performance begins, we welcome you to visit the permanent exhibition, the garden, the Kaburenjo Main Building Theater and other areas. Please enter the museum at least 15 minutes before the Kyomai dance performance begins.
Can I enter the museum with a stroller?
We are sorry to inform you that strollers are not permitted in the museum due to the age of the building.
Is the museum wheelchair accessible?
We are sorry to inform you that wheelchairs are not permitted in the museum due to the age of the building. However, indoor wheelchairs are available at the museum. Please ask a staff member if you would like to use one. Please note that the number of indoor wheelchairs available is limited, and that some areas may not be accessible. In addition, Kyomai dance performances by a geiko or maiko and photo sessions with a geiko or maiko are held on the second floor. As there are no elevators, these activities are not wheelchair accessible. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.
Can I store large luggage at the museum?
We do not offer luggage storage. You can leave any large luggage near the museum entrance. Although staff are always nearby, please note that the museum will not be responsible for any lost, stolen or damaged luggage.

Are guided tours available?
Guided tours are not available at the museum.
Are explanations of the exhibits available in languages other than Japanese?
Translations in English, Spanish and French are available by scanning the QR code on display boards with your smartphone. Translations into other languages are underway. We thank you for your patience.
Can I talk to a geiko or maiko at the museum?
A geiko or maiko will greet you during the photo session, but we do not offer any conversation services.
Can I take photos and videos in the museum?
In most areas of the museum, visitors are free to take photos and videos. However, the following actions are prohibited:
Use of auxiliary photography equipment such as monopods, tripods or selfie sticks with a total length of 30cm or more
Flash photography
Drone photography
Filming or interviewing for commercial purposes without prior consent
Any other behavior that may inconvenience other visitors
Also, taking photos and videos of the Kyomai dance performances by a geiko or maiko is prohibited. For the photo sessions with a geiko or maiko, staff will take photos with your smartphone. Please note that photography using other cameras is not permitted.
Can I post photos and videos on social media?
Yes. However, please refrain from posting photos or videos that may inconvenience other visitors.
Do visitors sit on the floor or on tatami mats to watch the Kyomai dance performances by a geiko or maiko?
Chairs are available for visitors while they enjoy the show.
Is there a smoking area in the museum?
We regret to inform visitors that smoking areas are not available on museum premises. Please use public smoking areas near the station.
